A long lunch on the weekend is one of my favourite things. When the doggg bites, when the beee stings when I’m feeling saaaaad, I simply remember my favourites food things and then I don’t feel so baaad. Phew there we go that’s out of my system and I promise not to spontaneously break into song again, or for a little while at least.
Nestled in Yarra Glen is Hargreaves Hill. A microbrewery, a restaurant, hey, it’s even a counselling office…if you have multiple paddles and start to discuss the intricacies of your dramatic first word problems, like many have in the past. This beautiful building is the former National Bank and its gorgeous whitewashed Victorian façade welcomes you like a big, big hug.
It was recently Husbo’s 30th and we arrange a large group outing to Hargreaves Hill for lunch. Firstly, the staff were lovely from the get go. I had a few odd requests, like the group will be dressed in random sporting attire (Jamaicaaa we have a bobsled team) and was quite picky about food choices (because…I love food) and the staff were so accommodating, so kudos to them!
We started off with MULTIPLE paddles, and that’s definitely the way to go if you want to sample their finest brewskies and there’s beers on offer to match any taste. From the light to the very dark, you’ll find your favourite.
All food was devoured and I enjoyed a seafood pasta. Not sure why I ordered that when there was a big-ass burger on offer, but it was still a great dish. There’s also a damn good looking vegie burger on offer. The fried chicken set food envy sirens off around the table as well, it looked phenomenal and oh so crispy. Yum, want some now. Must say, it is all a reasonable price as well and considering the quality of food you’re tucking into, you will be pleasantly surprised at bill time.
Hargreaves Hill has a great space both downstairs and upstairs for functions and I highly recommend it either for a long lunch, a catchup with friends, or maybe the lunch destination for a winery or brewery tour. I absolutely adore living so close to the wonders of the Yarra Valley and Yarra Glen is just the tip of the iceberg. So go explore and devour that burger for yourself.
